Magento2 + Warden + VPN

I am working on a Magento 2 project that connects to an ERP through an API and this API is only accessible through a VPN.

I have setup my local environment and I have my project-domain.test up and running.
But as soon as I enable the VPN (NordLayer VPN) and refresh the browser I get a DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE error.
I understand this is because the NordLayer app is routing all my request through the VPN and obviously my .test is not reachable.

Question: has anyone had a similar issue? Any idea or workaround?
