, I would expect this to be pretty easy to add and it would make it nice so I wouldn't have to make new copies for separate instances of custom screens.

This is a very reasonable request.

I think you had mentioned some interest in implementing the feature. If that's still the case, I'd recommend assigning yourself so we don't duplicate work down the line.
