How do I get the syslog off my device when NickelMenu fails to install

I am having difficulty installing NikelMenu in 4.38.21908 on a Kobo Libra 2 but I cannot get a lot of diagnostics off the device.

BTW ended up figuring this out. I was not attempting install with the latest version. The version here is outdated https://pgaskin.net/NickelMenu/#faq

I encountered the same issue.

The real reason is, for Mac users, if you directly download the file, it would automatically unzip the .tgz file into a .tar file.
You need to manually save the tgz file to some other folder so Mac would not automatically unzip the file.
