The new Slack chat invite uses https://communityinviter.com/ which is an app that can send invites for a Slack instance. I saw it getting used by Freemius for their Slack and since it was free I decided to switch it out with what we had before. The old way we had was using a custom Heroku instance that was costing us money monthly and still using a Slack app. So I was able to just switch it out easily.
