binding a "pre" shortcut to enable a shortcut, this is useful for start programs, and make it harder start the wrong stuff, it also allow for use of the "same" shortcut to be used for diff. things, as this "pre" shortcut open for a new "layer" of shortcuts, this layer is close on a timeout or a mouse(or device) action.
ex.
super + r (pre keys) then
super + b for browser or
super + e for files or
super + s for steam
it can also be follow by a non mod shortcut
ex.
super + q (pre keys) then
q for close program
super + m "logout"
in the first case super + b for start the browser is easy to hit in a wrong time, but if you need to a combo key super + r, super + b no problem.
and a lot of users use super(cmd for them) + q to close problems, it is not if you try to hit super + 1 and hit super + q &/#"
so having super +q, q you need to move your finger off the super key for the last q and it easy to do in the right times, and not in the wrong times.
