Compatibility issue with Advanced Custom Fields Pro, can't publish a post

I have one checklist item that's recommended but not required to publish. But if it's not checked, the article can't be published.
Here's what happens, with three screenshots:
The last item on the checklist is Recommended. See Item.jpg.
Clicking on Publish when that item isn't checked leads to a confirmation dialog box. See Confirmation.jpg.
Clicking Yes brings the confirmation dialog box up a second time.
Clicking Yes the second time leads to the article appearing to be publishing, but it never completes. See Infinity.jpg.
If I go the the list of Blog Posts and use Quick Edit to change the status to Published it works fine.
