libexpokit.so isn't found in /usr/local/lib

qvm fails to find libexpokit.so when it is in /usr/local/lib. It only looks in the build directory:

$ qvm

Where is the lookup path for libexpokit.so?

quilc also uses magicl and doesn't have this problem.
