Password was "wrong",had to reset the diary

Hey. My computer crashed and later when i tried to log in the diary,it said my password was incorrect( I didn't change it ),i had to reset it. I want to know if there's a way to get my diary back using the backup (i have everything saved)...I put one text from backup in the "mini-diary.txt" but when i try to log in again there's nothing there. Then i thought maybe i was putting the backup in the wrong place,any ideas? I want to try anything i can because i had some important stuff in there...
