subset() returns error in version 5.0

Hello,

I am analyzing published data. I want to extract part of the Seurat object. subset function worked fine before but somehow recent attempt gives an error:

corSutureData <- readRDS('GSE163693_composite_mesenchyme_bone_subset.rds')
subset_corSutureData <- subset(corSutureData, idents = c("1", "2", "3", "4")) 

This code returns

Error in ..subscript.2ary(x, l[[1L]], l[[2L]], drop = drop[1L]): invalid class "dgCMatrix" object: 'i' slot is not increasing within columns

We tried updating the rds object, but the error persists.

 corSutureData <- UpdateSeuratObject(corSutureData)

What shall I do next?

The current R version is 4.3.3, and the Seurat version is 5.0.2.
