Not sure I understand what you mean by nested selectivity

In a side-by-side (SBS) experiment, BSFRF selectivity is assumed to be 1,
so the estimated "selectivity" function (which reflects the relative
probability of capture-at-size by a survey in relation to the entire stock)
really reflects the availability of crab in the SBS area relative to the
total stock area. Within the SBS area, the NMFS survey selectivity is
assumed to reflect the conflation of availability relative to the total
stock area (i.e., the BSFRF "selectivity") and the NMFS survey selectivity
relative to the entire stock. Hence, NMFS survey selectivity relative to
the total stock is "nested" within the BSFRF survey "selectivity" in an SBS
area.

Andre's version added the ability for selectivity for one gear to be nested within that of another gear has been added (so that the selectivity for the NMFS survey can be nested within that of the BSFRF survey, as is the case for BBRKC Model and snow crab).
