Did this software ever work?

Hi, I recognize this project hasn't been touched in a decade, and many of the library references have been deprecated... But after spending some time fixing all the dependency issues, I found several bugs, but did get things to compile. However, it was then that I realized that the de-duplication function was handled by an unreferenced external program to handle the streams. Did you ever get this working with an actual de-duplication application? If so, which one?
