Background images are not planned to be part of the scribble package, since scribble sketches are meant to be lightweight and JSON serializable by design. However, this should be quite easy to implement yourself.

Towards the second part of your question: I don't really understand what you mean by that and in what way Scribble could help with this. Could you clarify a little bit more?

I believe he may mean overlaying text onto the Scribble canvas. Similar to what OneNote does? This feature could actually be very useful.
