In a print by Simon Richault I found this peculiar variant of a double sharp:

Maybe worth adding as an alternate?

Just chiming in to say I agree this is worth considering. I've also run across this variant in my own work.

An example is from the "St Louis: Kunkel Brothers, 1878" engraving of Franz Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, available via this IMSLP page. Here's a screenshot from page number 3 (page 5 of the PDF):
