That's a bit stupid as it gets reposted in /var/log/syslog, but xinetd starts anyway.
So either it's a mistake, and IMHO xinetd shouldn't start with a buggy conf file, or otherwise, a less strict syntax is supported, which leads to easier configuration...

Having something like :
defaults
{
bind = 157.159.110.88
}
works whereas :
defaults
{
bind=157.159.110.88
}
won't, in /etc/xinetd.conf
