=head1 Name
BC_xls (standalone)
=head1 Synopsys
Generate BISAC (or BISG) carton labels from a spreadsheet (batch conversion)
=head2 Required Modules
=over 4
=item *
B<PDF::Reuse>
This adds the data to the PDF form. It uses three main sizes, 14, 12, and 10, as noted in most guidelines.
=item *
B<PDF::Reuse::Barcode>
This is what creates the barcodes to insert into the PDF. It can do several kinds, but the label only needs CODE128 provided by B<Barcode::Code128>. It won't export the 'FNC1' properly, however, so 'chr(0x07)' is used instead. The author of PDF::Reuse::Barcode seemed shocked that anyone would need that...
=item *
B<Spreadsheet::ParseExcel>
This version only works with XLS type files.
=item *
B<Switch>
Because of all the things Perl can do, SWITCH/CASE is not one. Install by hand to add in core feature.
=item *
B<convert>
If you want to make PNG images of the PDFs, you'll need F<convert> from the Imagemagick package

=head2 Notes
The ISBN is converted into a GTIN by adding a 1, chopping off the last digit, and making a new checksum. The price should be entered in as a batch (that may be specific to our partner), so $8.95 should be entered as 895R. If it has a CAN price, it would be 895/995R. However, only the US price is encoded in the barcode. Add '-debug' to the command line to see some (kind-of) useful information about what's going on behind the scenes.
This version is for scripting -- it expects an XLS spreadsheet and will return a batch of PDF labels if everything went well. If you don't supply a file name it will look for F<sheet.xls>
Updated 8/2018 to allow non-standard PPONs that include letters and symbols so it won't spill outside the box
Updated 08/2021 new spec required, Vendor Code and print number appended to PPON. This probably isn't valid outside of one particular company as they are just using a space as a separator instead of FNC1(240) or somthing actually GS1 valid.
=head3 TODO
Validate input on entry to catch errors. Add adjustments for generic usage. Allow lower case in PPON exceptions (redundant UC everywhere!)
