Welcome to the bmtk-workshop wiki!
- Provide installation instructions before the workshop (2-3 weeks).
- Ideas:
- Suggestions from 2024 attendees: including common installation problems and how to fix them, providing a requirements.txt file to facilitate environment setup, and sending examples to test installations.
- Suggestions from our team:
- send instructions to attendees and ask them to contact us if they have any problems.
- Hold Zoom sessions to help those attendees who encountered installation problems?
- Ideas:
- Share tutorials with participants one week before the workshop and ask them to set up the environment before the workshop?
- Have tutorials that need to be completed instead of having the codes already.
- Ideas:
- Add suggestions/exercises at the end of the tutorials for attendees to work on by themselves.
- Provide small projects/assignments for attendees to work on.
- Ideas:
- Improve documentation.
- Provide more details on the JSON configuration files describing each entry's meaning.
- Add more examples about synapse editing and dynamic synapses to the tutorials.
- Add STP. Suggest a couple of STP models for participants to implement.
- Be able to load data from connectomic databases into BMTK quickly.
- A longer presentation and a deeper dive into BMTK’s architecture?
- Some attendees wanted more time dedicated to scientific talks and tutorial presentations than hands-on work on tutorials.
- Have information available about participants.
- Merge the two surveys into one.
- For each tutorial; do a brief presentation w/ only slides (maybe) and let participants work on tutorials themselves.
- Mix of talks + hands-on-work in morning and afternoon.
- Add exercises in tutorials to complete!
- Extra day?
- Allow students to work on their own project(s)?
- Pointing students to additional tutorials of interest.
- Using ModelDB models, LFP, etc.
