I've incorporated the following changes:

Changed the shebang line to #!/usr/bin/env bash for maximum portability.
Added the -s option to curl to make it silent, consistent with the quiet wget command.
Introduced a variable filename to make the script more maintainable.
Added a check for available space in the target directory before downloading the file.
Implemented a trap to remove the partially downloaded file if the script exits due to an error.
