Since #474 worked correctly without any problems, I'm concluding the requests failures are temporary (e.g. timeout). I think this is the best approach as the occasional failure shouldn't block the rest of the updates, and the stars will update on the next batch check anyway. |

Summary
Hopefully fixes #472, although I'm not sure why some requests are failing. Needs further investigation.
