Two types of highlighting

PDF++ offers two different ways of PDF text highlighting:

1. Backlink highlighting
2. Adding highlight annotations directly into PDF files

Backlink highlighting

Pros:

• Does not clutter actual PDF files.
• Light-weight.

Cons:

• Visible only inside Obsidian (exporting is a planned feature).

Add highlights into PDF files themselves

Pros:

• Highlights are visible everywhere including outside Obsidian

Cons: Involves PDF file modification.
