About

We are a project focused on accelerating heat pump adoption in Boston!

We meet weekly for Hack Nights on Tuesday's from 7-9PM ET. Sign up for the zoom call and slack on our website!

Project Details

This project is in partnership with an NGO in Boston called Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts. The NGO helps with disadvantaged communities and this particular project is about switching old heaters and boilers based on oil and natural gas to new more efficient source of heating/cooling called heat pumps!

Heat pumps are like Air Conditioning but instead of just cooling on summer, it can double as a heater in the winter. There are also programs by the government to incentivize installing these but the people who benefit most from this are those who are in disadvantaged communities as many of their homes still run older systems (oil/ gas based ones).

Adoption also is likely to happen by the more wealthy first even though there are others who would benefit more!

The goal of the project is to provide an app to help the people in the field be able to find houses which would really benefit from this program and help them in asking these people if they’d like to get support in installing a heat pump! There are a couple other goals too including the potential for this to be shared to other counties and states across the country.
