Installation on linux

Download latest version from the release page

Per user install (recommended)

Put OpenSubtitlesDownload.py in your /home/$USER/.local/bin folder
Make sure it's executable
Put desktop-files/OpenSubtitlesDownload-gnome.desktop in your /home/$USER/.local/share/applications folder

Global install

Put OpenSubtitlesDownload.py in your /usr/bin folder
Make sure it's executable
Put desktop-files/OpenSubtitlesDownload-gnome.desktop in your /usr/share/applications folder

Customizations

You can either

edit the OpenSubtitlesDownload.py file directly to set different options (see this wiki page)
edit the exec= line from the desktop file, and customize it like if you were using the CLI (see that wiki page)

Using OpenSubtitlesDownload.py

OpenSubtitlesDownload will now appear if you right click on any video file, then Open with another application → OpenSubtitlesDownload
