This project enables an easy way to keep track of website changes. It sends a mail once a new change is discovered. The script should be executed as a cronjob.

Currently it supports changes on simple URLs and changes on a "Piratenpad".

The so called "Piratepads" are a comfortable way to collaborate on documents. You can easily set up your own pad via piratenpad.de. I often use the pad for brainstorming and coordinating stuff, but I have lost track of the different pads.

Simple Webpage

git clone https://github.com/ioexception-de/website-changes-notifications.git
cd website-changes-notifications/simple-webpage/
mkdir tmp/

And initialize it:

./check-for-changes.sh [email protected] "http://foo.bar/"

Once initialized you should get a mail. If the script is started again you will only get mails if something changed.

It might be a good idea to create a cronjob for the script:

*/15 * * * * cd ~/website-changes-notifications/simple-webpage/ && /bin/bash --login ./check-for-changes.sh "[email protected]" "http://foo.bar/"
*/15 * * * * cd ~/website-changes-notifications/simple-webpage/ && /bin/bash --login ./check-for-changes.sh "[email protected]" "http://foo.bar/"
...

Piratenpads

git clone https://github.com/ioexception-de/website-changes-notifications.git
cd website-changes-notifications/piratenpad/
mkdir tmp/

Then create a file acc.js:

exports.email = '[email protected]';
exports.pw = 'pw';
exports.padDomain = 'subdomain';
exports.padId = 1;

And initialize it:

./check-for-changes.sh [email protected] ./acc.js

Once initialized you should get a mail. If the script is started again you will only get mails if something changed.

It might be a good idea to create a cronjob for the script:

*/15 * * * * cd ~/website-changes-notifications/piratenpad/ && /bin/bash --login ./check-for-changes.sh "[email protected]" "./pad1.js"
*/15 * * * * cd ~/website-changes-notifications/piratenpad/ && /bin/bash --login ./check-for-changes.sh "[email protected]" "./pad2.js"
...

This way you can easily get notifications for multiple pads.
