We are FRC Team 4931, otherwise known as "E'ville Tech".
We are high school students in the Edwardsville area, and we will be participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) that runs January 4 through April 2014. Under strict rules, teams raise funds, build a brand, and design, build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks while competing against robots from other teams. It is a great way for students to experience “real-world engineering”, and a great way to encourage Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) while also being a lot of fun!
Our team is brand new and the first in the Edwardsville area, and we’re just getting started. It consists of roughly a dozen high school students from EHS, Metro East LHS, and Father McGivney CHS. Several parents (engineers and non-engineers) are volunteering their time to guide and mentor us.
Designing and building robots is what we do, but there is a lot more to it. We consider our team to be like a technology startup, so in addition to students interested in engineering we also need students with interests in business, accounting/finance, fundraising, graphic design, websites, social media outreach, marketing and brand development, administration, and several other areas.
We really hope to grow our team and to get as many students participating as we can, so any Edwardsville area high school student is welcome! It's never too late to join, either!
If you are interested, please contact us via email at [email protected] or DM us on Twitter (@frc4931).
We’re also looking for local residents and businesses to assist our students with grants, in-kind support, and donations of money, tools and equipment. We hope to receive our official non-profit (501c) status soon so we can begin our fundraising efforts.
If you are interested or think you can help, please contact us as at [email protected] or by contacting one of our lead mentors: Rande Johnson (314-239-7488) or Randall Hauch (618-580-5764)
