Yes. Banner is better. This is a great image but a bit too much forcing to scroll to see anything.

Uh, true. Ehm I think it is still hanging here because I was not able to distribute the content nicely all over a thinner banner at the time and then forgot about it :(
Could of course leave something out or leave some empty black space around and have the logo with map in smaller in the middle?

what about having the map (black with countries drawn as above) as background of the purple box (which hence would not be purple anymore?)

given the text is white, it could work nicely?
