One small step for an app, one giant leap for conlanging.

We have to start somewhere and this is a small start to finally having Polyglot available for Android.
Since the desktop app is such a huge and great tool set, the android app will be trying to catch up slowly.

The development of this app was started before desktop 3.5, so some of the amazing UI improvements are not still present.

As an initial alpha release, please be sure to backup your languages, as this version is unstable and might break your pgd files.

This is what you can do:

  • Create your new conlangs.
  • Load and save your existing conlangs.
  • Modify the properties of a language.
  • Scroll through the lexicon.
  • Add, modify and remove lexemes.
  • See and modify romanization and pronunciation (configured in desktop app)
  • See conjugations.
  • See etymology tree

Known issues/missing features for the existing progress:

  • Save as (save loaded language to new file).
  • Saving causes images to be smaller (personal testing didn't show any drop in quality)
  • Custom fonts might not have full support.
  • Usage of kerning.
  • Alphabetic order.
  • Search lexicon.
  • Some incompatibilities with editor of copyright info and lexeme definition.
  • Can't deselect part of speech.
  • Override autogenerated conjugations.
  • Etymology tree doesn't use custom font.
  • External etymons (parents) can't be added.

What's next?

  • Filter lexicon.
  • Implement conjugations composition helper.
  • Support external etymons.
  • Manage lexeme logographs (with logographs created on desktop).
  • Parts of speech.
  • Classes.
  • Grammar.
  • Logographs.
  • Phonology.

If you find any issues please create a ticket in here or send an email including your language to [email protected]
