OpenCircuits

Troy, NY

OpenCircuits is a free, online, digital circuit designer built specifically to help bridge the gap between new and experienced electrical engineers. Made for students, hobbyists, and professionals alike and designed to be as user-friendly and enjoyable as possible so that people from all over the world can create and design circuits!

We currently host OpenCircuits as a project through Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute of Technology (RPI) using their program called the "Rensselaer Center for Open Source" (RCOS) where we have many students working on and contributing to OpenCircuits every semester!

Our site can be found here, so please feel free to play around!

Some of our features include:

  • Create and design simple or complex circuits
  • Create a circuit and turn it into an IC for easy reuse
  • Save and load circuits locally or to the cloud
  • Very smooth and lag-free for even complex circuits
  • LEDs and 7/14/16-segment-displays
  • Runs on any device!
  • Can be used by professors, students, and hobbyists alike
  • Open-source and completely free to use

We have many many plans for the future, including:

  • Sharing of circuits
  • Collaborative editing
  • Library of public circuits/ICs
  • Educational resources
  • Automatic circuit generation
  • An analog version of OpenCircuits!
  • A finite-state simulator
  • And much more!

We would super appreciate any help in terms of funding since we do have server costs and it's all currently being paid out of pocket by our founder, Leon Montealegre

Thank you so much for even considering us (:
