Reusable Blocks

Mike McAlister edited this page Oct 22, 2019 · 4 revisions

Reusable blocks is a feature of the WordPress block editor that lets you customize and save a block, or a selection of blocks, to be reused on any of your posts and pages. This is very handy and time-saving feature, especially if you have content that you need to insert into various pages. You can also modify the block as needed on a per-page basis, meaning your saved reusable block remains unmodified.

Unfortunately, working with reusable blocks in the editor isn't very intuitive at the moment. To alleviate that, we've built support for reusable blocks into the Atomic Blocks Pro layout modal so you have quick access to edit and insert reusable blocks seamlessly. Now, if you have reusable blocks available for use, they will show up in the Reusable Blocks tab of the layout modal window.

To save a block as a reusable block, select the block and click the More Options button (vertical dots) and choose Add to Reusable Blocks. You will be prompted to name the block and then you can save it. Once saved, you will see your reusable block in the Reusable Blocks tab, as seen in the screenshot above. From there, you can insert and modify your reusable block as needed.
