OI 5 - Maintenance Procedures

OI 5.1 - Installing and Removing Battery

OI 5.1.1 - Installing Battery

  1. Ensure robot is powered off, sitting, and safe.
  2. Check State of Charge button on the battery. If charge is below 40% (2 bars), charge battery before installing.

  1. If necessary, roll the robot onto its side per OI 4.2.

  2. Slide the end of the battery opposite the carrying handle into the rear of the battery compartment, and then latch the handle. Ensure the handle is properly latched.

  1. Roll the robot back over, preferably using the tablet controller per OI 4.2.2. If needed, it is acceptable to roll the robot with Safe Rolling per OI 4.2.1.

OI 5.1.2 - Removing Battery

  1. Ensure robot is sitting or on its side.

  2. If rolling the robot to its side with safe rolling, post-shutdown, roll per OI 4.2.1.

  3. Unlatch the battery handle and pull the battery out of the robot.

  1. OPTIONAL: Roll the robot back over, using safe rolling per OI 4.2.1.

OI 5.1.3 - Hot Swapping Battery

  1. Roll the robot onto its side.

    1. If using the tablet controller, roll per OI 4.2.2.
    2. If using safe rolling, roll per OI 4.2.1.
  2. Once the robot is on its back, connect the shore power cable to the robot.

  3. Remove the discharged battery per OI 5.1.2.

  4. Install the charged battery per OI 5.1.1.

  5. Remove the shore power cable.

  6. Roll the robot back over, preferably using the tablet controller per OI 4.2.2. If needed, it is acceptable to roll the robot with Safe Rolling per OI 4.2.1. If doing so, ensure the motor lockout is engaged before rolling robot.
