Races: Gerudo
The Gerudo, derived from the name of a dragonfly which is native to the region, are the first people who established a village in the desert. Rumored to have been descendants of Groose from Skyloft, they all share similar characteristics of red hair and great stature. They set up their village near the ancient Temple of Time, as guided by the Light Spirit Lanayru. The Gerudo culture is based off of those in Africa and South America. When a Gerudo citizen dies, they are cremated and their ashes are scattered to the wind over the sands of the desert, in order to join their ancestors in the afterlife. While the Gerudo venerate their ancestors by regularly praying to them, they worship the Goddess of Sand (their interpretation of the Goddess Hylia, as told by Groose).
Gerudo village is composed of a collection of tent residences as well as a small central adobe structure which serves as a communal meeting space. At this point in time, the population is about half men and half women, mostly due to Groose's prolific... fathering. But now that Groose is gone, the citizen are starting to note that men are being born less and less frequently - in fact, this generation only a single male child was born...
The Gerudo are associated with the Spirit elemental, the Gerudo Topaz, which they've held for safe keeping in the Ancient Temple of Time.
