TPAC2019 WebApps Symbols Overview
- Explainer
- Module 1 Adaptable Content
- Module 2 Adaptable Help and Support
- Module 3 Adaptable Tools
Here is our use-case examples
Here is our Getting Started with Personalized Semantics documentation.
Listed below are the steps needed to run the Personalized Symbol Demo. It is important to point out that this demo was based on our original documentation which used aui-symbol
as the proposed attribute. However, we have decided to proceed with data-symbol
instead, following the HTML5 convention for experimental attributes which allows us to test our proposal and not require browsers to implement aui-symbol
in order to have valid HTML pages.
These demos will be updated to the new data-symbol
implementation soon.
In Step #2 Setting up the profile shows the power of symbol translation and facilitating communication mutually unintelligible symbol systems.
- Install this extension to personalize the Symbols Demo below.
- Create a Personalization Profile
- Visit the Symbol Demo Page
To add the symbols and personalize the page, press the small eagle icon in the toolbar. You can change the setting in your profile or make new ones.
=== Personalization of Web Content ===

- Summary: People have very different needs. some people can not do numeric information, but others prefer numbers to words, some people with severe language disabilities use of symbols to represent words, but one of the main challenges is transforming content for these different needs. We are working on an extreme personalization standard that let people with cognitive and learning disabilities join the online community and share information and communicate across groups. Are there more use-cases and new user groups for this technology? Here are our [https://github.com/w3c/personalization-semantics/wiki/Use-cases Use Case Examples]. Here is a link to our [https://w3c.github.io/personalization-semantics/ latest working draft of our explainer document]
