Robot Troubleshooting Guide

  1. You cannot login
    • Step 1 - The laptop did not connect to the internet properly. Reboot the laptop and try again.
    • Step 2 - If the problem persists, log in using bwilab. Please report this error to one of the postdocs/grad students.
  2. You can login but the robot throws up a bunch of permission denied errors on launch
    • Step 1 - Ensure that the segway base is on.
    • Step 2 - Run the ‘groups’ command and ensure that you are in the dialout group. If not, reboot and try again.
    • Step 3 - If the problem persists, log in using bwilab. Please report this error to one of the postdocs/grad students.
  3. The laser does not work. You get an error during launch that says error connecting to Hokuyo.
    • Ensure that you’re connected to the correct ethernet network - ‘192.168.0.X’.
  4. There is no error, but the Segway does not move.
    • You need to turn the laptop on before turning the segway base on. Terminate your roslaunch command, turn the segway base off and then on, and try again.
  5. The laptop does not charge. The white light on the charger cable does not turn on.
    • Turn everything off (the power board and the laptop). Then turn the power board on first and then the laptop. This time the charger light should stay on.
