This page lists out the steps that need to be undertaken when you join the lab. You'll need to send in the information listed below. thumb|400px
- Get round-the-clock access to the 3N Wing of GDC.
- To get access to the North 3rd research wing, you need a new-ish proximity card.
- Take a look at your proximity card. If it says iClass Px, then you're good (as shown in image). If not, you need to get an upgraded card at the FAC building.
- Once you have an upgraded card, please send your EID by email. We'll approve your proximity card for the 3N wing door.
- Get round-the-clock access to the lab.
- We have a key-box outside the lab. Please ask someone for the code and ensure that you can retrieve the key from the box. Please re-attach the box after you open/close the door and spin the dial 1 complete revolution.
- Get access to the lab machines.
- Send in a desired username for the lab machines. This does not have to be same as your UTCS username, but it can be. We'll email a randomly generated password for the user account back to you.
- Before working with the robots, you need to make sure you go through the tutorial on how to turn it on and off. Take a look at Using the robot.
- To use the software system, it is good to get a good idea about ROS. Here are some good resources:
- ROS beginner tutorials (select catkin where applicable)
- Introduction to ROS (CS378 slides from Spring 2012)
- Next, you can go through other Hardware and Software tutorials on the wiki.
- You need to make sure you have access to the lab and the wing
